Creative Cities Convention 2018
The inaugural Creative Cities Convention took place in Leeds in 2018. The brainchild of freelance executive producer, consultant, journalist and mentor, Ruth Pitt, the aim was to provide a meeting place for media people where they could discuss issues affecting their industry, listen to inspirational and informed speakers and make new business connections.
Hundreds of delegates were at the event in Leeds College of Music last April to listen to, among others, BBC Director of Content Charlotte Moore and Channel 4 Chief Executive Alex Mahon. Themes under discussion were the creative and commercial growth of the digital media industry and a spotlight was also shone on areas of diversity, regional imbalance and gender inequality. Issues organiser Ruth Pitt said it was imperative to address.
