Brought up in Newcastle. Kema developed a passion for rap, singing and songwriting at a young age. In his early twenties, Kema started acting and landed a main role in BAFTA award-winning film "I Daniel Blake". He went on to write his one man show "Shine" which he performed at Newcastle Live theatre. Kema's gone on to explore radio, creating and presenting a documentary series for BBC World Service called "Finders Keepers" about the looting and return of ancient artefacts.When not performing, Kema runs a studio giving opportunities to young people to record. He also delivers song writing workshops in schools, youth projects and the community, teaching others how to use music as an outlet to express emotions and build confidence.

Kema is currently working on a BBC Three documentary about his journey and thoughts through therapy and developing his show "Shine" into a TV drama.
