Stuart Cosgrove is from Perth, Scotland, and is a writer and broadcaster. He was a staff writer with Echoes and media editor of the NME and is widely regarded as the UK’s most influential writer on the history of soul music for his epic trilogy: Detroit 67: The Year That Changed Soul (nominated as Best Music Book of 2016), Memphis 68: The Tragedy of Southern Soul (winner of the Penderyn Music Prize), and Harlem 69: The Future of Soul.

Stuart has a doctorate from Hull University; honorary doctorates from Stirling University, the University of Abertay, Napier University, Edinburgh and John Moores University, Liverpool and has studied Innovation and Creativity Leadership at Harvard University and is an Advanced Management Graduate from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also a respected television executive who has won numerous awards including a BAFTA and Royal Television Society award for Channel 4’s coverage of the London Paralympics in 2012. His recent book Cassius X was published in 2021.
