Sustainability and Social Impact
Creating a more responsible event
Creative Cities Convention is committed to delivering an event that is environmentally responsible, socially inclusive and supportive of the communities in which we operate.
As a gathering for the creative industries, we believe collaboration and innovation are key to addressing the challenges facing our planet. We are continually reviewing how we plan and deliver our events to reduce our environmental impact and create positive change.
Our commitments:
Reducing waste
We aim to minimise waste by:
- Providing digital event information wherever possible.
- Reducing unnecessary printing and single-use materials.
- Reusing event branding and materials where practical.
- Working with venues and suppliers to support recycling and responsible waste management.
Encouraging sustainable travel
We encourage delegates, speakers and partners to consider lower-carbon travel options by:
- Choosing venues with good public transport connections.
- Providing a practical information webpage to help delegates plan their journeys.
- Encouraging rail travel where practical for UK-based attendees.
Responsible catering
Where catering is provided, we aim to:
- Offer vegetarian and plant-based choices.
- Reduce food waste.
- Work with catering partners who share our commitment to responsible sourcing.
Supporting our communities
Creative Cities Convention exists to bring people together, share ideas and support the creative economy. We aim to:
- Work with local suppliers and businesses where possible.
- Create opportunities for diverse voices and participation.
- Leave a positive legacy in the cities where we host our events.
Working with our partners
We encourage sponsors, exhibitors, suppliers and venues to support our sustainability ambitions and consider their own environmental impact.
Help us make a difference
Everyone attending Creative Cities Convention has a role to play. We encourage delegates to:
- Travel sustainably where possible.
- Use digital resources instead of printing.
- Recycle waste using venue facilities.
- Make responsible choices during the event.
Our ongoing journey
We recognise that sustainability is a continuous process. We will continue to learn, listen and improve our approach each year.
